Project Description

Family considerations and safety were prioritized in the design of this Naperville wine room. The tempered-glass enclosure—featuring a full-height door, fixed side panels, and matte black lockable hardware—keeps young children safely out.

During a larger basement renovation, the typically sealed-off and forgotten “L”-shaped void beneath the staircase was reimagined as an elegant wine room for just $5,000 in additional cost. The scope included precision templating of the sloped under-stair cavity and the installation of custom-built cedar racking and storage shelves to maximize space. Dimmable LED task lighting on its own circuit adds dramatic bottle glow and ambiance.

The result is a personalized, conversation-starting detail that now cradles up to 120 bottles in ideal aging conditions—proving that every square inch of wasted space can tell your unique story and add lasting value to the home.
